Workshop for the municipalities about the social participation
The Małopolska Regional Development Observatory has organized a cycle of workshops for the municipalities representatives “The effective social participation. Participatory budgeting for the citizens of Małopolska Region”. These workshops took place in April of 2016.
Till 2015 21 municipalities in Małopolska has earmarked about PLN 56,5 million for the civil budgets. Year by year more and more municipalities decide to implement this process – it becomes a standard in regional public administration. Management Board as well as the councilors of the Małopolska Region decided to carry into execution this kind of undertaking – the voting on registered projects is planned to be organized this year.
There were presented the conclusions of the research “The participatory budgeting. The status and prospects of support” during the meeting. This research was conducted by the Observatory team. The workshop’s aim was to bring closer the following topics: the social participation, participatory budgeting and other ways of citizens’ participation in social, public and political life.
The participants had the opportunity to become acquainted with the methods of social participating as well as the standards and milestones leading to prepare and realize the civil budget. They are ready now to coordinate the process of planning and implementing the civil budget in municipalities.
The workshops took place in three cities of Małopolska Region: Kraków (April 18th), Nowy Sącz (April 20th) and Tarnów (April 29th).
