Winners of the competition for an article on the education and labour markets announced

The Regional Labour Office in Kraków – Labour Market and Education Observatory of Małopolska announces the results of a competition for a scientific article on the education and labour market.

The organiser received 24 works, of which 23 met the formal criteria. Finally, 22 works were submitted for evaluation, with one of the articles being withdrawn from the competition at the request of its author.
The papers were evaluated by the Competition Jury composed of:

  • Dr Agata Chrześcijanek (Labour Market and Education Observatory of Małopolska)
  • Dr Maciej Frączek (Kraków University of Economy)
  • Dr Jolanta Perek-Białas (Warsaw School of Economics, Jagiellonian University).

By the decision of the jury

  • the First Prize was not awarded
  • the second prize, an MSI Wind U115-022 netbook, and a Brother DCP-385C printer scanner are awarded to Katarzyna Staś (sociology, Silesian University) for the work entitled "The role of vocational consulting in the identification of deficits in the social and cultural capital of young people" (Rola poradnictwa zawodowego w identyfikowaniu deficytów kapitału kulturowego i społecznego młodzieży)
  • the third prize, a Lenovo IdeaPad S10 netbook, and a PWN-Oxford Polish-English dictionary are awarded to Wojciech Ciszewski (Law, Jagiellonian University) for the work entitled "Social policy in higher education vs. the question of the common good" (Polityka społeczna w sferze szkolnictwa wyższego a problem dobra wspólnego).

 

The works of Katarzyna Staś and Wojciech Ciszewski will be published on the Observatory’s website and in hard copy.

 

The Jury decided also to award two honourable mentions:

  • to Joanna Grzymała-Moszczyńska (Psychology, Jagiellonian University) for the work entitled “Discrimination against foreigners in the labour market and ways of counteracting it)” (Dyskryminacja cudzoziemców na rynku pracy i sposoby jej przeciwdziałania)
  • to Anna Wancio (Law, University of Warsaw) for the work entitled "Systems of higher education vs. the labour market. A case study of Małopolska, analysis of selected aspects." (System szkolnictwa wyższego a rynek pracy – analiza wybranych aspektów na przykładzie Małopolski).

 

By the decision of the organiser, the recipients of the honourable mentions received the following prizes: Joanna Grzymała-Moszczyńska – an Asus Eee PC1008HA netbook, and Anna Wancio - Nikon Coolpix S220 digital camera.
